Connor Goldson to play in friendly for new club today as Rangers exit looms

Connor Goldson will play in a friendly for his new club today, according to a report.

It's claimed the Rangers centre-back will feature for Aris Limassol this afternoon against Al-Fayha.

Goldson, 31, is thought to be in Austria with his new club despite the move not yet being officially announced.

The defender is expected to complete a Rangers transfer exit this summer after a "concrete offer" was received.

Goldson had been set to feature for Rangers against Birmingham during the week but was allowed to leave to discuss a potential move.

Philippe Clement explained: "Connor was planned to start today so that was the idea but there was a concrete offer for him so I allowed him to go and speak with this team.

"That's why he left today, to go and speak with this team and we will see in the next couple of days."

He was not involved as Rangers played Union Berlin in Germany on Sunday.

However, Goldson is set to play for Aris this afternoon in a pre-season match against Saudi League side Al-Fayha.

Cypriot football expert Stel Stylianou from This Is Mappa explained: "I've been trying to find out if it is going to be a loan or if it's going to be a permanent move.

"All I can tell you is he is with the club now. He's in the hotel in Austria. And he's going to play on Sunday for sure.

"As I said, he hasn't put pen to paper yet, I am hoping that they buy him outright because again it's kind of like - pardon the terminology - sticking the middle finger to the people who said they can't afford him.

"But even if it's a loan they are still going to have to pay his wages and I'm guessing Rangers are going to want a fee for that because that's the what normally happens these days."
