Connor Goldson spotted at airport amid impending Rangers exit

Connor Goldson has been spotted at an airport as he heads for the Rangers departure gate.

The centre-back is set to leave the Ibrox club after six years spent in Glasgow.

Philippe Clement will allow the 31-year-old to leave for a new challenge, as the Belgian frees up some much-needed wages to redistribute in his transfer budget.

Goldson missed Wednesday night's friendly against Birmingham City due to a 'concrete offer' being submitted.

Now, a Rangers fan has taken to social media to share a photo of Goldson at Glasgow International Airport this morning, as he looks to move on to pastures new.

The Englishman was spotted with five suitcases as he approached the check-in desks at the main entrance of the terminal building.

Aris Limassol of Cyprus are the team that have been strongly linked with the Scottish Premiership stalwart.

However, Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia have previously been interested too.

Goldson earns around £37,000 per week as one of the biggest earners at Rangers.

So, by leaving, Clement will now be able to use that money elsewhere as he looks for first-team reinforcements.

Goldson will become the latest regular starter to leave the club, with Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Borna Barisic having all departed at the end of their contracts in May. Kemar Roofe and Jon McLaughlin also left.

Goldson will soon be joined by fellow big-name player Todd Cantwell.

Clement made it clear as he spoke to the media in Birmingham on Wednesday evening that the former Norwich City man wants a new challenge, and has requested to leave the club. He's now training with the B team until a resolution can be found, with Cardiff City said to be interested.

Vaclav Cerny is set to arrive on loan from Wolfsburg in his place.
