Connor Goldson Rangers injury latest as Giovanni van Bronckhorst provides update on Ibrox star

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has provided an injury update on key man Connor Goldson.

The ever-present Rangers defender was forced off just before the half-time interval in a major blow to the Light Blues. The disappointment was visible as the stopper buried his face in his hands as he hobbled off following a challenge with Darwin Nunez. The defender appeared to be clutching his thigh and was replaced by youngster Leon King.

The 18-year-old - who has Manchester United and a host of other clubs monitoring him - partnered summer signing Ben Davies at the heart of the defence for the second 45 minutes.

Ryan Jack was also forced off just before the hour and heading straight down the tunnel in a further blow to Van Bronckhorst.

It was a night to forget with Liverpool hitting Rangers for SEVEN. Mo Salah climbed off the bench to net a six minute hat-trick with Roberto Firmino grabbing a double and Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott also on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Providing an update on the injured duo, Van Bronckhorst said in his post-math press conference: "Both weren't good because they couldn't continue.

"For Connor [Goldson], he felt something in his muscle. So we have to wait and see what exactly the injury is. But I think he will be out.

"The same for Ryan [Jack.] So we have to wait until tomorrow and assess the injuries and how long it is going to be until they are back."
