Connor Goldson in Rangers hammer injury blow as he faces Champions League sweat after being ruled out for TEN weeks

Connor Goldson has suffered a hammer injury blow after Michael Beale revealed he will sidelined for at least TEN weeks.

Beale said the Light Blues vice captain was a doubt for the trip to Easter Road and Leon King has been handed a start with John Souttar alongside him. And Beale has now told how the former Brighton & Hove Albion stopper is facing more than two months out with a foot injury.

Going by Beale’s schedule, Goldson wouldn’t return until July 31 and that rules the 30-year-old out for pretty much the entire pre-season. And the Champions League third round qualifying first leg takes place jut a week later on August 8 and 9. Depending on how his recovery goes, Goldson could be a doubt for a game of such huge magnitude.

Beale told Rangers TV before the lunchtime clash at Easter Road: “We’ve lost Connor and unfortunately that’s going to be for the next 10 weeks so we won’t see him until pre-season but it’s a big opportunity for Leon, playing alongside John Souttar as well, a Scottish centre half pairing with Robby behind him. Leon King has waited patiently.”
