Connor Barron on Celtic transfer radar as Aberdeen prospect 'scouted' during Scotland duty

Highly-rated Connor Barron has caught the eye of Celtic this summer, according to reports.

Ange Postecoglou is preparing for a busy summer as he looks to bolster his squad for a Premiership title defence and Champions League surge.

The Aberdeen youngster looks to have caught the eye of the Australian this summer.

The Scottish Daily Express report that the 19-year-old was watched by Parkead scouts during the Scotland’s Under-21s clash with Belgium.

The midfielder wowed again for Scot Gemmill’s side as they earned a point in the goalless draw with Belgium.

Barron impressed for the Dons in the second half of the campaign after returning from a loan spell with Kelty Hearts in League Two.

Jim Goodwin has declared that the teenager is key to his plans next term: “It’s important to remind ourselves Connor is 19 and has only had a handful of games in the first team.

“He is a big part of our plans. But we’re looking to strengthen that area as we don’t want Connor thinking he’s a mainstay.

"We want him thinking if he drops his standards he’ll be out the team and that comes back to recruitment.

“There shouldn’t be a single player in the team who thinks it doesn’t matter what they do in the game they will be in the team next week.”
