A convicted conman with links to a Merseyside town is now wanted by police after he failed to return to prison.
Robert David Salinger, 36, a father of three with connections to Birkenhead, failed to return to the prison where he was sentenced in 2020 after targeting plant hire and car tyre firms in a fraud worth £360,000. He was sentenced to four year in prison for the "organised and sophisticated" fraud.
Salinger was being held at the open prison HMP Sudbury, in Derbyshire, when he failed to return after a period of release. Derbyshire police are now appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of Salinger, who has links to Birkenhead, as well as Manchester and Blackpool.

Derbyshire Police describe Salinger as white, of stocky build, and around five foot nine inches tall with brown eyes and a shaved head. He has the name "Elizabeth" tattooed on his left forearm and the name "Louisa" on his right.
He also has the name "Gemma" tattooed at the top of his back.
The Manchester Evening News reported that it was only "by chance" that Salinger's fraudulent activities were first discovered, after police made a "routine stop" on the M62. Judge John Potter, when sentencing, said that Salinger's fraud was "designed to acquire high-value goods by creating and maintaining false identities", including those of existing customers of several firms.
He would order the goods, in one instance three fork-lift trucks worth £38,000, to an address and then move them to another location before the companies he targeted discovered his false identity. However, Wayne Goldstein, defending, said that "there were people above" Salinger "in terms of directing what was to happen", and he was "not at the top."
Anyone who has seen him or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Derbyshire police quoting reference 22*374133. Otherwise, they can be contacted via private message on Facebook, or Twitter @DerPolContact, or by using their online contact form or by calling 101.
