Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz of Florida, who is a member of the bipartisan task force investigating the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, expressed serious concerns about the security protocols in place to protect the former president.
Moskowitz stated that there is a sense of bewilderment among members of Congress as to why a similar incident has occurred for a second time. He emphasized his deep concern for the safety of the former president and questioned the Secret Service's ability to prevent individuals from getting dangerously close to him.
According to Moskowitz, the resources and protocols dedicated to safeguarding the former president appear to be insufficient, particularly in outdoor settings. He highlighted the need for a thorough review of the security measures in place to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
Regarding the individual detained in connection with the attempted assassination, Moskowitz raised doubts about how the individual was able to obtain a firearm in Florida. He suggested that it is possible the individual may have brought the weapon from another state, underscoring the need for stricter gun control measures.
Moskowitz urged the American public to be vigilant and concerned about the security lapses that allowed a disturbed individual to come so close to the former president with a weapon. He called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident to identify any gaps in security and prevent similar threats in the future.
