Congress officially certified Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election on Monday. The Electoral College vote count proceeded smoothly without any objections or disturbances, marking a significant departure from the tumultuous events of four years ago when rioters breached the Capitol during the certification of the 2020 presidential election.
Vice President Kamala Harris, in her capacity as president of the Senate, oversaw the certification process and announced the final count. As per legal stipulations, this declaration serves as the conclusive confirmation of the individuals elected as president and vice president.
Trump and Vance secured victory in the election with a total of 312 electoral votes, while Harris and her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz garnered 226 electoral votes.
Donald Trump is scheduled to be inaugurated as the President of the United States on January 20th, following the official certification of his electoral win.
