Confirmed: Jordan Smith pens new contract with Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Jordan Smith has signed a new one-year contract to remain at the City Ground.

The 27-year-old - who joined the Reds as a seven-year-old - will stay at Forest until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Smith has made 54 first-team appearances since November 2017 when he made his senior debut in a 5-1 defeat to Norwich City.

After signing his new deal, Smith said: "I'm delighted to be staying with the football club.

"We're in such a good position at the minute and everyone is looking upwards. We're doing really well in the league and on an exciting cup run.

"The environment is fantastic and when you see how close the fans and players are; it's probably the best it's been in my entire time at the club.

"When the manager and coaching staff approached me to offer me a new deal, it was always going to be very tough to turn down and I'm delighted to be here.

"The reason that we are all performing to a high level is because the work we put in everyday on the training pitch and we all raise each other's game and standards.

"It's a really exciting time to be part of the club."

Aside from two Premier League 2 opportunities for the under-23s, playing opportunities have come at a premium for Smith this season with Brice Samba and Ethan Horvath the preferred options to boss Steve Cooper.
