Confirmed Chelsea team vs Everton – Badiashile steps in, James returns, Kante on the bench

Graham Potter has made three changes to his Chelsea side for this afternoon's Premier League clash against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are hoping to secure their fourth consecutive victory and maintain the positive momentum that has been built over the past fortnight. That will not be a simple task against an Everton side that is battling relegation under Sean Dyche.

Kepa Arrizabalaga continues in goal for the Blues and there is no Edouard Mendy in the matchday squad despite the Senegal international returning to training earlier this week after fully recovering from surgery on a fractured finger.

Wesley Fofana keeps his spot on the right of the Chelsea back three and Kalidou Koulibaly is in the centre. There is a change on the left as the tenacity of Marc Cucurella is replaced by the physical presence of Benoit Badiashile. That is no surprise given Potter highlighted Everton's set-piece threat prior to the game.

Reece James is back in the starting XI after missing last weekend's win over Leicester due to illness. He replaced Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is among the substitutes. Ben Chilwell starts once again at left wing-back and will be looking to maintain his recent impressive form.

Enzo Fernandez maintains his record of starting every game since his move from Benfica in January. The Argentine will be partnered in midfield by Mateo Kovacic. N'Golo Kante, who hasn't featured for Chelsea since August, is back among the substitutes and could make his return in the second half.

There is a change in the Chelsea attack with Christian Pulisic coming into the starting XI for the first time since he recovered from a knee injury. The American will be flanked by Joao Felix and Kai Havertz, who will continue in a more withdrawn role rather than leading the frontline.

Chelsea: Kepa; Fofana, Koulibaly, Badiashile; James, Enzo, Kovacic, Chilwell; Havertz, Pulisic, Felix

Chelsea substitutes: Bettinelli, Chalobah, Cucurella, Chukwuemeka, Gallagher, Kante, Loftus-Cheek, Madueke, Mudryk
