Condition update after teenager hit by Arriva bus

A teenager remains in a critical condition after being hit by a bus in St Helens.

Police are appealing for two passengers, who were on the bus, to come forward as they may have information to help. The 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being hit by the 31 Arriva bus, at the junction of Corporation Street and Parr Street.

The crash happened at around 11.05pm on Thursday, March 30 on the service which runs from Parr to St Helens town centre. Officers confirmed that the bus driver stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

The teenager remains in to hospital where he is being described as being in a critical but stable condition.

Detective sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Force’s Matrix serious collision investigation unit said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of this collision, who may have seen the incident or events leading up to the collision to please contact with us.

"I am particularly keen to speak to the two passengers who were on that bus at around 11.05pm last Thursday night. In addition we appeal to anyone with dashcam, or who lives locally with CCTV or smart doorbell footage to get in touch.
