More than 30 world class cars will shut down Savile Row in June as tailoring houses in the famous street join with the automotive world to create the first ever Savile Row Concours.
The street will be shut on June 15 and 16 and entry will be free to visitors, with events taking place throughout the day.
The Concours will explore the relationship between craftsmanship and ‘the art of bespoke’ which links tailoring and fine automobiles.
It will showcase more than 30 world-class cars displayed along the street, from pre-war thoroughbreds to the latest electric hypercars, including Pininfarina’s Testarossa Spider.
Other cars attending include a 1964 Jaguar E-Type Coupe used in the film ‘Kingsman the Golden Circle’, a 1937 Bentley 4.5-litre Gurney Nutting Sedanca Coupe, and a Morgan Super 3.
Ferrari
The Cegga Ferrari 250 owned by former Harlequins and England rugby star David Cooke will be showcased, as will Gianni Agnelli’s first and last Ferraris, the Ferrari 166MM and Ferrari Testarossa Spider. The Spider was commissioned by Agnelli and was the only open-top Testarossa built by the factory. It was also fitted with an automatic gearbox due to Agnelli’s leg injury, sustained in a car crash.
A Maserati MC20 sports car will also be attending. It marked the beginning of a new era of sports car production for Maserati when it was introduced in September 2020, during the pandemic and is a successor to the MC12.
Many of the tailors, shoemakers and art galleries on Savile Row will be open late to visitors. The street will feature a central stage, which will host several talks with key figures from the worlds of tailoring and automotive design. Live music will accompany the event across the two days.
Bentley
Partnerships include Dege & Skinner and Morgan Motor Company, J.P. Hackett and Aston Martin, Holland & Sherry and Bizzarrini, and Huntsman and Bentley among others.
Each of the partnerships will give visitors the chance to explore these famous brands producing exclusive garments, installations and more.
“We are delighted to unveil Concours on Savile Row, giving an insight into the long-standing relationship between Savile Row tailors and luxury car manufacturers,” said Julian Stocks, Property Director of the Pollen Estate. “The event will be a wonderful showcase of craftsmanship that is unique to both industries.”
Geoff Love, the Managing Director and Co-founder of Hothouse Media added: “The coming together of these two world-recognised industries is an exclusive opportunity for all who are able to visit.
“The event will act as not only a celebration of stunning cars and garments but also the craftsmanship and skill of bespoke manufacturing and tailoring.”
