Concert Square hosting two week Eurovision Song Contest party

Liverpool's Concert Square will transform to give Eurovision Song Contest fans an unforgettable experience.

Liverpool's most prolific party area will undergo a massive Eurovision transformation to kick off the season. The month of May will see millions of fans head to the city but the hospitality sector is more than ready to accommodate with two weeks of non-stop thrills, music and entertainment.

The action officially kicks off on Bank Holiday Sunday, April 30, at 2pm with all of the surrounding bars getting into the spirit for the following two weeks. Homegrown local and rising talent will entertain the crowds on a central stage as well as the leading tribute band ABBA Forever who are expected to perform on all three of the live broadcast dates.

Soho will broadcast the event which will coincide with another of their venues, Fusion, acting as the Euro Fans Club and delivering a full week of themed events.

The Euro Fans Club kick off on May 8 with an opening night extravaganza along with viewing parties for the semi-finals and live performances every night. Famous names already confirmed include Katrina from the contest's 1997 winner, Katrina and the Waves, James Newman, Rasmussen and Kate Ryan.

All that plus two rooms of Eurocentric partying until 6am every night of the week. You can see the full lineup and buy tickets here. Their sister venues dotted across the city will host events of their own with drinking games and giveaways at La'go, and Zanzibar expecting a Sh*t Indie takeover.

Cheers and Revolver have wrangled the expertise of several drag hosts who will present quizzes, tribute acts and "Abba-esque makeup stations" to guests throughout the night.

A spokesperson for Concert Square said: "There is a real buzz around the city and Eurovision, the square is perfect for big events like this and it is going to be lots of fun for everyone involved. The party atmosphere will be electric, we are excited to welcome all the visitors to the city and to give them an amazing experience of Liverpool."
