An appeal has been launched to trace a man last seen leaving his house wearing only one shoe amid growing concerns for his welfare.
Steven Deans, 59, left his home on Springfield Lea in South Queensferry at around 10.30am on Tuesday October 25 and was seen walking westbound on Society Road underneath the Queensferry Crossing. Police say he hasn't been seen since but hope that members of the public may have passed him in the street.
The missing man is described as being 6ft 3ins in height, of medium build, and bald. When last seen he was wearing dark denim jeans, a blue long-sleeve t-shirt, a dark blue denim jacket and one black Sketcher shoe. He had a white sock on his other foot.
Police issued a picture and description of Steven on Wednesday morning, less than 24 hours after he was last seen. It is understood officers are concerned for his welfare.
Steven's son James shared a CCTV image of his dad walking along the street on Facebook. He wrote: "If anyone has seen my dad Steven Deans please get in contact. Last seen at 10am in the South Queensferry area and may be acting out of character, was last pictured wearing only one shoe."
Inspector Scott Kennedy, of Police Scotland's Edinburgh division, said: “I am asking anyone who has seen Steven or knows where he is to get in touch. We want to establish that he is safe and well.
“If you were in the area around the bridges near Society Beach and have seen him please get in touch. I would also ask people living in the area to check sheds and outbuildings in case he has sought shelter."
He added: “The area he was last seen is popular with dog walkers and runners so I am asking everyone to keep an eye out and let us know if you see anyone matching Steven’s description.”
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1412 of Tuesday, 25 October, 2022.
