Man with 'distinctive scar' reported missing from Scots village found safe and well

A man has gone missing overnight from a Scots village, sparking an urgent police search. Rory Derbyshire disappeared from Busby, East Renfrewshire around 6pm yesterday.

The 45-year-old was last seen in Easterton Avenue in the village, but has not been seen or heard from since. Officers believe the man may have travelled to Whitelee Wind Farm in Eaglesham as he has been known to visit there.

Rory is described as being around 5ft 11inches tall, with short dark hair. He has a distinctive scar on his left jawline. He was wearing a black hooded top with a ‘Boss’ emblem, blue jeans and dark trainers when he vanished.

He was also carrying a dark coloured rucksack. Cops are now asking for the public's help as part of their ongoing efforts to trace Rory as worries mount for his welfare.

They want to hear from anyone with any information on his whereabouts. Police Inspector William Campbell said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Rory who has not been seen since yesterday.

"This is an extremely worrying time for his family and friends. Officers are carrying out extensive searches and reviewing CCTV in an effort to trace him.

"I would urge anyone who has any information on Rory’s whereabouts or who has had contact with him to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3359 of 1 August 2022.”
