Concerns grow for Ayrshire man who disappeared from hometown after buying takeaway

Police say they are becoming "increasingly concerned" for a man who disappeared after getting a takeaway.

George Winters vanished from Dalry in Ayrshire, at around 7.15pm on Sunday, July 2, after ordering his food from a restaurant on New Street.

The 48-year-old is believed to have then travelled in his car - a grey Peugeot 307 Sport, registration SH56 UPG - to Greenock and parked at the Inverclyde town's Esplanade.

George is described as around 5ft 8in tall and has receding dark hair. It is not known what he was wearing.

Inspector Michael Cowan said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace George. This is out of character and we are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare. We are asking anyone who may have seen George or know where he is to get in touch.

“If anyone saw his car being driven in the Greenock area or has dash-cam or private CCTV from the Esplanade area of the town that could help with our efforts to trace him then please also get in touch.

"Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 0030 of Monday, July 3."
