A road in Sutton-in-Ashfield has been described as ‘awful’ and a ‘nightmare’ by residents. Nottinghamshire Police conducted a speeding operation on Dalestorth Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
During the operation, police issued eight tickets to motorists for excess speed on the 30mph road. Last year in June, residents on Dalestorth Road described the street as an 'accident waiting to happen' due to obstructive parking and speeding issues.
They also reported there has been multiple accidents on the road over the years, as well as near misses, along with motorists crashing into residents' walls or hitting parked cars.

59-year-old Ozkan Ozdolek of Dalestorth Road shared his concern for the sharp bend on the street. He said:“After the bend people go flying. They fly from the top end coming down here. I think to me, if they put up some signs - when people aren’t from around here they don’t know how sharp the bend is.
“Outside my home at rush hour it’s a nightmare, there’s queuing. Rush hour is really bad.”
In June 2022 residents welcomed double yellow lines near the bend, around the junction of Dalestorth Road and Westdale Avenue, after they contacted MP Lee Anderson about the number of car accidents on the stretch of road.
Local resident Haley Wooley, 28, told Nottinghamshire Live she worries for the safety of her young son, she usually checks that the gate is closed at all times so he doesn’t run out into the road.
Haley said: “It’s literally awful down here, all through the day and all the time at night. It’s not safe.”
71-year-old Jenifer Bullock, lives locally, she said: “It’s a very dangerous corner coming from Dalestorth Road. I think they go too fast to say it’s a built up area.”
A spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers from SUTTON NPT have been out conducting FATAL 4 operations on The Twitchell and Dalestorth Road Sutton-in -Ashfield both of which are 30mph limit and built up areas.
“Positive engagement was had with members of the public whilst conducting the operation. The operation resulted in 8 tickets being issued to drivers for excess speed, the worse of which was 49mph! 2 drivers were also advised about their speed.
“A driver was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs. Further FATAL 4 operations will be taking place over the coming weeks so please let us know of other roads of concern.”
