Residents have shared concerns as hundreds of homes could be built on land next to industrial estate and reservoir. An outline application has been submitted to Ashfield District Council for 250 homes at the Land Off, Hamilton Road, Sutton In Ashfield.
The proposed site sits between Hermitage Way Industrial Estate and Kings Mill Reservoir. If approved, the development would consist of 250 properties with a mix of one, two, three and four bedrooms.
Access would be provided from Hamilton Road with a new fourth exit to the existing roundabout that serves the Amazon warehouse in Summit Park. People in the area have expressed concern and said the new development wouldn't ‘fit in’.

“This isn’t really a residential area, you’re surrounded by industrial estates and green fields,” said 42-year-old Hilary Bates.
“I don’t think houses would fit in here. It’s next to the main roads so it would increase traffic where it’s already busy. I’m definitely open to new developments but I think building opposite busy industrial estates isn’t a good idea.”
Janet Birks, 47, who's worked in the area for over ten years said :“I think it’s a lot of homes to build here. For me, I worry about the infrastructure. I think something like this would have a big impact on the roads, hundreds of extra cars on the road.
They said:“I really hope they don’t disrupt the wildlife. There’s lovely little walks around here and it’s right next to the reservoir, I can only imagine how much wildlife would be affected by this.
“It’s sad really, they just keep building houses on every piece of land available. It does concern me a lot. Unfortunately it is out of our control.”
