Concerns have been raised after dozens of dead fish were seen floating on the surface of a lake in a Liverpool park.
Images have been shared with the ECHO of numerous fish, lying dead in the main lake at Newsham Park in recent days. We were contacted by several people who raised concerns about the scenes in the park.
One said: "The dead fish are dotted across the entire lake in large numbers. It was a sad site and I think it deserves attention to try and get the council to ensure they are maintaining the park's lakes and habitats."

The ECHO reader wondered whether the fish deaths could be related to blue/green algae blooms that cover large parts of the lake and "have been left untreated for years".
Another reader contacted us with further pictures of dead fish in the lake at Newsham Park.
They said: "All the fish are dead and the lake is bright green. The smell is unbelievable, this is a public health emergency."
Despite the various concerns raised by the number of dead fish in the lake, Liverpool City Council said it is aware of the issue and suggested the numbers involved are fairly normal for this time of year.
A spokesperson for the city council explained that as lakes are shallow water bodies, the recent sustained hot weather has caused several issues for fish and other wildlife.
The city council's lakes team will head to Newsham Park to recover any dead fish and when they are there they will inspect the lake's aerators to ensure that oxygen levels are being correctly maintained.
