Complex Aston Villa vs Celtic ticket process confirmed after 'lengthy negotiations'

Celtic have confirmed the stringent Champions League ticket process for the match against Aston Villa.

Brendan Rodgers' side face the Premier League club in the UEFA competition on Wednesday, January 29.

And Celtic chiefs have been involved in "lengthy negotiations" over the away allocation for the fixture with strict rules over ticket collection and access to the match.

Celtic were initially set to receive 2500 tickets for the match but it was dropped to 2100, according to the club SLO.

Now, Celtic have detailed the process for supporters to purchase and collect their tickets.

Eligible supporters can purchase match tickets now.

Tickets for the match need to be collected in Birmingham at a designated location on the day of the match.

Fans who buy tickets will first need to collect a ticket voucher from the Celtic ticket office - with valid photo identification and confirmation email required for uplift.

The voucher - and photo identification - will then be needed to secure the match tickets at the designated location in Birmingham.

A Celtic statement read: "Celtic will take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on January 29 in their final UEFA Champions League Group Phase match of the campaign, and tickets are on sale to eligible Season Ticket holders now.

"To secure the maximum away ticket allocation for the match at Villa Park, Celtic supporters will be required to collect their tickets in person at a designated Birmingham location on game day. This follows lengthy negotiations between Celtic, Aston Villa, and local authorities.

"We have been asked to follow this procedure which has previously been used for other European ties at Villa Park.

"Tickets for the match against Aston Villa are now on sale online only to eligible Season Ticket holders.

"The deadline for eligible Season Ticket holders to purchase tickets is 2pm on Friday, January 17.

"After purchasing a ticket online, Season Ticket holders will need to collect a voucher in person from the Ticket Office at Celtic Park. This voucher must then be presented in Birmingham with valid photo ID to collect the corresponding match ticket.

"Valid photo identification (valid passport or photo driving licence only) and your email confirmation must be presented when collecting the voucher in Glasgow and your voucher and valid photo ID must be present to collect the match ticket in Birmingham."
