PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Saturday said stormwater drains should be constructed before the onset of the monsoons this year to prevent wide spread flooding in Chennai again.
In a statement, Dr. Ramadoss said there were only four months left for the arrival of the northeast monsoon and Chennai would be flooded once again if the stormwater drains were not constructed before that.
“State government should ensure that the construction of stormwater drains should be completed as per deadline and enough manpower be assigned to complete the tasks before the monsoons. A senior IAS officer should be put in charge of each zone in the city where construction is taking place,” Dr. Ramadoss said.
