Competitive mum pushes parent and 'sends her flying' to win sports day race

Sports days can be intense with tantrums from children if they lose, some choosing to cheat and others rubbing wins in their peers' faces.

While healthy competition is encouraged to push children to give their best shot on the day, things can get out of hand.

Normally, you'd expect little ones to be guilty of taking things a tad too far, but a mum has recently revealed how she went all out in a bid to nab the top spot and win the parents' race.

Katie McDermott, 25, refused to hold back during her daughter's sports day and was willing to do whatever it takes to win.

In a clip captured on the day, the red-haired mum was seen sprinting in a maxi dress alongside the other mum in what was initially a fair race.

Just seconds later, she's seen giving her fellow competitor a nudge leading to the mum falling.

She said: "I told my daughter I would be number one, so I had to be!"

McDermott added: "I could see she was winning - so I just gave her a quick nudge and she took off in the air.

"I don't know what possessed me to do it, I was just thinking about how I wanted to win so badly!

"I didn't know the mum very well - everyone was shocked but we just carried on as normal afterwards."

Fortunately, she's since apologised, saying: "If you see this, sorry that I pushed you - I didn't mean to send you flying!"

However, the competitive mum joked: "I don't regret it though, because I won!"

A woman, who was filming, could be heard laughing throughout the video and was in hysterics when the mum was launched across the track.

The antics come shortly after a mum hilariously flashed her rear to crowds of parents, children and the school's teacher after toppling over during a parents' race at her daughter's school.

Katie Hannaford, from Basildon, Essex, went on to receive a Bottoms Up award following the mishap, which featured a peach emoji on it following her flashing.

Katie said: "I just tripped over my own feet - I think my body was just moving too fast for my legs! I'm so clumsy, I'm always falling over.

"I was humiliated at the time, but it is what it is. You just have to own it. Looking back, it's definitely the funniest thing I've ever done in my life!"
