Comparing Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson’s career stats

Week 14 will likely be the final time Chicago Bears fans have to suffer through a game that features Mitch Trubisky, the second overall pick in the 2017 draft, against one of his first-round draftmates, Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson.

At least, it better be.

Sunday will feature Trubisky vs. Watson. The Texans’ signal-caller was selected 10 picks later than Trubisky but has enjoyed a much more successful career. This isn’t a surprise; it’s discussed all the time. The Bears got the lemon of the first-rounders, while the Texans and Chiefs (who selected Mahomes with the 10th pick), got high-powered sports cars.

But how much better than Trubisky has Watson been since 2017?

Here’s a side-by-side breakdown of their career numbers. Bears fans may want to look away.

Trubisky-backers will point to their career records as a starter and say that Mitch has been just as good as Watson. But what that stat fails to reveal is that Watson has won a majority of his games on his own, while the Bears have won in spite of Trubisky and because of a top-notch defense.

Don’t worry, Bears fans. It’ll all be over soon.
