One of Wales’ best known restaurant groups is up for sale after 25 years of trading. The Knife & Fork Food Group, which owns and operates six gastro pubs across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, is being listed on the market by Cardiff-based property firm EJ Hales.
The entire trading entity is for sale, however the six leasehold pubs could be bought as a group or on an individual basis, the agency has said.
The venues are described as each having their own unique style, ambience and seasonal menus and include Cardiff’s The Conway in Pontcanna, The Discovery in Roath Park, and Twenty Nine Park Place in the city centre.

The Pilot in Penarth, The Old Swan Inn in Llantwit Major, and The Sully Inn in Sully are also included in the portfolio.
It comes as the group’s three owners, Sharon Noakes, Sean Murphy and Serge Luceau, look to exit the business to pursue other areas individually.
EJ Hales said the sale was an excellent opportunity to acquire a very well-established business with assets in some fantastic locations. Business accounts for the year end 31 May 2023 show the business filed a turnover of £3m and a gross profit of £1.7m.
The profitable business has separate lease arrangements. The Conway has five years remaining on a free of tie lease at a passing rent of £92,569, while Twenty Nine Park Place has 15 years left in the lease at a passing rent of £40,000.
EJ Hales said it has had a range of interest so far, both from parties interested in the whole group as well as from parties interested in just one or two of the sites.
