Community to be consulted on £5.3 million Aldi store proposal in Kinross-shire

Aldi has unveiled plans to build a brand new £5.3 million store in Kinross-shire, creating 35 jobs.

The proposed development in Milnathort is set to create significant local full and part-time employment with further jobs during the construction process.

The 1800-square-metre store would be located at Auld Mart Road and includes 97 parking bays, with four electric vehicle and 10 cycle spaces.

To coincide with the announcement, Aldi is also planning on delivering “a comprehensive consultation process” in the coming weeks to collate feedback from the local community.

Supermarket representatives say they have already written to over 3500 residents across Milnathort and Kinross regarding the plan.

Aldi will be hosting an in-person drop-in session on Wednesday, May 11 at the Milnathort Town Hall between 2.30pm–6.30pm.

Then a virtual event will be held on Monday, May 16 between 5pm-7pm, where members of the public will be able to view proposals as well as ask questions and provide feedback to the project team in real time.

The opportunity for members of the public to provide feedback will remain open until May 18.

It is anticipated a planning application will be submitted to Perth and Kinross Council sometime this summer.

Managing director for Aldi in Scotland, Richard Holloway said: “This marks an exciting time as we bring forward plans for a store at Milnathort.

“Perth and Kinross continues to be a key area of growth for Aldi, and I am delighted we are able to present our plans to the local community and bring our award-winning products to Milnathort in Kinross-shire.

“We are hopeful that the new store will bring great benefit to the local area, promoting active travel and generating a substantial inward investment of around £5.3 million to the local area.

“The store will also create up to 35 full and part-time local jobs, together with new jobs during construction and within the Aldi supply chain.

“Having had limited face-to-face engagement over the last couple of years, we are delighted to be hosting an in-person event at Milnathort Town Hall.

“We look forward to receiving questions and feedback from local residents and other interested parties through our consultation.”

Those interested in the proposals are able to find out more about the plans and provide valuable feedback via the consultation website at www.aldiconsultation.co.uk/milnathort-kinross

Access to the virtual event on May 16 will be via the consultation website.

A dedicated Facebook page for the development has been created with regular updates www.facebook.com/Aldi-Milnathort-Kinross-114091044620615

The website and Facebook page will remain open until the planning process has concluded.
