Community St Andrew's Day event raises vital funds to support people this winter

Last Sunday, a St Andrew’s Day event involving all churches in Dumbarton raised over £700 for St Patrick’s church so they can continue to feed and heat vulnerable people.

The event was hosted in St Augustine’s church and was attended by every Christian church in Dumbarton, with all the donations going to St Patrick’s Church, which since 2013 has been providing meals for vulnerable people.

St Augustine’s church volunteer Ghislaine Kennedy said: “The money went to St Patrick’s Church for the lunches and warm hubs there. They get no funding and hopefully, it’ll keep them going for a wee while.

“It was an ecumenical night to bring all the churches together in Dumbarton. We need to promote that the churches are working together for the greater good, to break down barriers and combat sectarianism.”

Ghislaine Kennedy hopes that such events can break down barriers between faiths. (Lennox Herald)
