Community rallies for 'devastated' Co Tyrone mum of five with terminal cancer ahead of wedding day

A Co Tyrone mum with terminal cancer who is to get married to her soulmate next month has said the family is overwhelmed by the support shown from the local community.

Danielle Donnelly was diagnosed with a form of stomach cancer last year after giving birth to her youngest boy, Jamie last June.

The 35-year-old has been told her cancer is spreading aggressively and she may have as little as nine months to live.

Danielle and fiance Darren have now set a date of 28 July for their wedding, and a social media post calling for help for the couple on their big day has gone viral.

The Co Tyrone mum says that she is ‘devastated’ at the thought of not seeing her children grow up, or spending her life with soulmate Darren.

“I was diagnosed with stomach cancer last July after having given birth to my youngest child,” Danielle said.

“It was only his first birthday on the 12 of June. We were told then 12 to 18 months was my timeframe, we kept praying that it wouldn’t be the case.

“Unfortunately the cancer is spreading aggressively again and with treatment I’m looking at nine to 15 months.

“We are totally devastated, I will not see my young children grow up, or get to spend my life with my soulmate.”

Danielle says the couple have been overwhelmed with offers for everything from wedding dresses, photographers and flowers ahead of their big day.

“We are totally overwhelmed by everyone, we can’t believe the amount of people wanting to help make our dream wedding come true,” she adds.

“The post was only about trying to find people who were available for that date, as you can imagine we are on a tight schedule.

“We can’t believe the effort people have went to to help. I cannot wait to become Mrs Collins."
