Cavan community pays tribute to 'hugely talented' young Irishman after sudden death

Tributes have poured in after the heartbreaking death of a young man from Co Cavan.

Cillian Boyle, from Cootehill, was described as a "true gentleman and someone who will be greatly missed" after he died suddenly on Monday.

In an emotional post, Cillian's local club Kill Shamrocks GAA said: "It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we pass on our deepest condolences to the Boyle family on the untimely passing of our dear friend and teammate Cillian.

"A true gentleman and someone who will be greatly missed in our community.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

Another local GAA also expressed their sadness at the loss of Cillian and reached out to anyone struggling to come to terms with his untimely death.

Drung Dalcassians GFC said: "All in Drung GAA wish to express our sincere condolences to Micheál, Maria, Katie, Ciara, Darragh and the extended Boyle and McPhillips families on the sad passing of their beloved Cillian.

"We offer our sympathy and support to his Kill Shamrocks, St Finbarrs and Cootehill Hurling teammates at this time.

"We're thinking also of his wide circle of friends. A hugely talented young man, he will be desperately missed by all who knew him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”

They added: "Cillian's passing is sudden and tragic, and can affect so many people in many different ways. If anyone would like to speak to someone about how you feel or if you need help or guidance to come to terms with this loss, please reach out to any of the support services below."

The Parish of Drumgoon also expressed their sympathies to Cillian's loved ones saying: "Condolences:. Our sympathies and prayers are extended to the family and extended family of Cillian Boyle of Campstown, Cootehill,

"Our heartfelt thoughts are with Michéal and Maria, Katie, Ciara and Darragh, Grandparents and extended family at this sad time.

"Eternal Reward Grant onto Him O Lord

"May Cillian Rest in Peace, Amen."

Cillian's funeral arrangements will be confirmed in the coming days.

A notice on RIP.ie reads: "The death has occurred of Cillian Boyle Campstown, Kill, Cootehill, Co. Cavan suddenly on January 24th 2022. Beloved and cherished Son of Michéal and Maria, adored Brother to Katie, Ciara and Darragh. Predeceased by his Granddad Tom.

"Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving family, his Father Michéal, Mother Maria, Sisters Katie and Ciara, Brother Darragh, his Nanny Mc Phillips, Nanny and Granddad Boyle, his Aunts, Uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours especially the Mc Intyre family, and all the great friends he made along his short journey in Life."
