Community in mourning as Irish dad-of-three who died in tragic workplace incident named locally

An Irish dad of three who died in a workplace incident on Saturday has been named locally.

Kristefer 'Kris' Murphy tragically passed away after he was involved in an accident in Corofin, Co Clare.

The Galway man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem has taken place.

The Health and Safety Authority were notified immediately, and Gardai added that investigations are ongoing into his death, with a file being prepared for the Coroner's Court.

Kris will be laid to rest on Wednesday with a funeral mass taking place in the Cathedral of Assumption, Tuam at 12pm, followed by burial in Tuam Cemetery.

A funeral notice reads: "Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his partner Lorraine; adored by his children Luis, Torri and Bobbi; his heartbroken parents Mary and Sean; brothers Andrew and Jason; sisters-in-law Michelle, Caroline, Priscilla and Madeline; nieces, nephews, family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

"Reposing at Burns Funeral Home, Tuam on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 8pm. Removal on Wednesday to the Cathedral of the Assumption, Tuam for Funeral Mass for Kris Murphy at 12am followed by burial in Tuam Cemetery.

"House strictly private by request.

"Mass will be live-streamed on the Tuam Cathedral Webcam. "

Tributes have poured in for Tuam father, who was a well-known and much loved local.

Dunmore Rugby Club paid tribute to Kris as they offered their condolences to his family.

They said: "Dunmore RFC offers its condolences to Jason Murphy one of our Senior players who lost his brother Kris Murphy suddenly over the past few days. All of the club committee, players and members' thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. RIP."

Another person wrote: "RIP Chris. Remember you well coming to your cousin's house and also went to your house a few times with your brother. Condolences to all your family and friends rest in peace lad."

A third said: "Sincere condolences to Lorraine, Torri, Bobbi, Luis, Mary, Sean, Andrew and Jason and all Kris' many friends and family. Absolutely shocked and heartbroken for you all. Rest easy Kris."

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal workplace incident that occurred in Corofin, at approximately 10:40am, on Saturday 23rd April.

"A man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem has since taken place the results of the post mortem are not being released for operational reasons.

"The Health and Safety Authority have been notified. A file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court. Investigations are ongoing."
