A downpour failed to dampen the spirits of the East Kilbride community which turned out in force to support Friends of Dunedin Park’s first family fun day.
A whole host of attractions drew the crowds to the event at Dunedin pitches on Sunday which had a real community feel.
Kids went on a bear hunt through the fairy wood, soaked a grown up in a game of Splat and even jumped aboard a fire engine with visits from local firefighters and police.
The fun day raised £1300 which will go towards giving the rundown recreation area a much-needed makeover.
The group needs £6000 to upgrade the decaying 50-year-old play park and install play equipment for kids with disabilities along with an outdoor gym.
Vice-chair Ann McCulloch said: “On the day we raised over £1300 which is brilliant.
“The tombola was a great success and the children loved the bear hunt through the fairy wood.”
Chairwoman Carolann Barlas added: “We would like to thank everyone for coming to our fun day at the park. It was a great success despite the weather.
“A big thank you to all the volunteers and committee members who pulled together getting everything set up and working on stalls.
“Also a big thank you to the fire brigade and police for coming down, the kids loved it. Hopefully next year will be bigger and better.”
