Community groups in North Lanarkshire asked to bid for regeneration project funding

North Lanarkshire Council is asking community groups with project ideas to tackle deprivation and disadvantage among residents to apply for a new form of funding.

The Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF) has been put in place to support such regeneration projects.

Councillor Allan Graham, convener of the enterprise and growth committee, said the fund offers opportunities for local communities to take forward ideas to improve their area for the benefit of residents

He added: “Last year we secured £1.7m for a new community music and learning hub in Motherwell and £790,000 for a new community hub in Shotts.

"We have previously received funding for community centres in Forgewood and Glenboig. So I would urge groups to apply and take advantage of this funding.”

The next round of RCGF applications is expected to open in April and details can be found online - anyone completing a form or wanting to find out more, should email growthteam@northlan.gov.uk.
