Community Fibre outage leaves thousands of London homes without internet access

The internet provider apologised to customers and said it was aware some ‘may be experiencing disruption to their service’ (Yui Mok/PA) - (PA Wire)

London’s largest fibre internet network, Community Fibre, appears to be suffering major outages.

Over 10,000 people have reported experiencing issues with their internet access from midday today, according to the website Downdetector.

The broadband provider has confirmed engineers are working on the issue, but have not said what caused it.

Community Fibre serves over 1.3million homes and 185,000 businesses across London.

A warning on the company’s service status page reads: “Some customers may be experiencing disruption to their service.

“Our engineers are aware of this issue and working on a solution as their top priority.”

Customers have taken to social media to express their frustration at the outage.

One person said: “Would be useful Community Fibre letting your customers know if there is a major outage. Reset router three times in last half hour thinking it is me.

“One look on X and it turns out it's the same for everyone. Needs sorting (as does their communications, their phone is down too).”

Another said: “No internet for the last 2hrs 45 mins, for the first time since I joined Community Fibre they’re down with no way to contact them, on a day I’m working from home as well.”

“Community Fibre please fix your Wi-Fi, sincerely the whole of London,” said another.

Responding to an earlier post by Community Fibre, which referred to Random Acts of Kindness Day, one user joked: “Give me my internet back as a random act of functionality.”
