The community in East Belfast are being invited to take part in a series of twilight walks to explore the Connswater Greenway.
Starting on Tuesday, February 1, The Eastside Partnership will be hosting a number of walks along the popular greenway in an effort to encourage exercise and help people feel more comfortable walking at night.
The Connswater Greenway is lit 24 hours a day and these twilight walks will be a great opportunity to overcome any barriers to evening exercise and a way to meet new people, and to explore the Greenway at night.
Jacqueline O’Hagan, EastSide Greenways Acting Manager said: “We are always looking for interesting ways to encourage people to use the fantastic Connswater Community Greenway in east Belfast. Our Walk Wednesday Walks and Gentle Walks have been a great way to support people to get out walking and the Twilight Walks are the latest programme to do this.
"Walking regularly has a number of health benefits from reducing risk of heart disease to increasing muscle strength and endurance. Walking with others, and meeting new people also comes with great social benefits.
"We would encourage anyone who wants to get outdoors in the evenings to join us. No booking is necessary, the only requirement is that you dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.”
The Twilight Tuesday walks will depart from EastSide Visitor Centre at 6pm on February 1 and will run until Tuesday, March 8.
