Community effort as volunteers hand out surplus food in Stapleford

For the sixth year running Stapleford Community Group organised a Christmas Eve Surplus Food Giveaway, taking place at the Stapleford Scout Hut.

Volunteers collected and sorted out the donations which came from The Co-Op, Lidl, Aldi, Asda as well as donations from Bramcote Farm shop, Robert Ellis Estate Agent in Stapleford, TRS Vehicle Centre in Stanton, FEET(etc) in Stapleford as well as donations from local people.

A spokesperson for the group said this was the biggest one to date with more people coming than any of the past years. We would like to thank the volunteers who do this each year and the new volunteers who came for the first time this evening. Everyone left with plenty of food so nothing has gone to waste."

The Stapleford Food Project collects 7 days a week and also helps and supports 32 groups and organisations with food donations including Pop Up Foodbanks at local Schools.

Richard MacRae who chairs Stapleford Community Group, said he would like to thank the businesses and helpers and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and thank you for the continuous support of the Stapleford Food Project.
