Community champion aims to provide ever Dumfries care home resident with an Easter egg

Community champion Anne Croucher is hoping to crack a mission to provide every care home in the town with an Easter egg for elderly residents to enjoy.

Her public-spirited campaign at the Tesco Extra store at Cuckoo Bridge got off to a good start this week when the supermarket gifted the first 100 eggs.

Anne said: “We would really love to be able to give an Easter egg to every single one of the residents who are in care homes in Dumfries.

“We know there are more an 400 who deserve a wee chocolate treat, so we would be grateful for any donations of Easter eggs over the next couple of weeks.

“Anyone who wants to donate one can put it into the box situated on the way out of the store by our bookcases.”

Last year, Anne’s appeal resulted in 450 Easter eggs being donated.

She added: “The feedback from the homes was brilliant. I really hope everyone pulls out the stops again this time.”

Last year’s eggs were shared between Allanbank, Abbey Gardens, Lochduhar and Charnwood Lodge Care Homes, Claremont House, Dalawoodie House and Goldielea Nursing Homes and the Queensberry Care Home in Sanquhar, with Anne hoping they’ll all benefit again this Easter.
