Communications consultancy appoints former BBC broadcaster

Freer Consultancy has appointed former BBC broadcaster Dr Vanessa Collingridge as an associate.

She also owns and runs Monster Media Productions, has more than 25 years’ experience advising clients - ranging from start-ups to global corporations and International business schools and universities - around media relations, executive coaching, pitching, presentation and public engagement.

Collingridge commented: “The key to my approach is understanding the needs of the audience in question - and then crafting and communicating a clear, concise, and compelling message that makes the audience connect and care about what you have to say.

“That could be when preparing for a milestone event like a big press announcement, dealing with crisis comms, carrying out a broadcast interview, pitching to investors, or delivering a keynote address at a major conference.

“Freer advises an exciting mix of companies, and I look forward to working alongside Nick and his clients going forward.”

The firm has also recently added clients including CCL Logistics & Technology, LGT Wealth Management and The Leith Agency.

Set up over a decade ago in Edinburgh by founding director Nick Freer, the agency’s client base includes tech incubator CodeBase, UK private bank Hampden & Co, blockchain sports betting exchange BetDEX, impact investment firm Eos Advisory, remote sensor start-up Novosound and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

In December 2021, Freer appointed Trustpilot’s Carolyn Jameson and entrepreneur George Mackintosh as advisers.

He previously spent 10 years at corporate communications agency Maitland in London, working with clients including Deloitte, the BBC, Westfield, Sainsbury’s and Clayton Dubilier & Rice.

Freer advised online tyre retailer Blackcircles.com ahead of its sale to Michelin in 2015, and travel site Skyscanner in the lead-up to its acquisition by Ctrip in 2016.
