Commonwealth Games schedule: Day one events and start times at Birmingham 2022

The Commonwealth Games this morning kick off proper after Thursday’s opening ceremony.

Organisers are predicting the 22nd edition of the Games will be the best attended staged in the UK, with 1.3million tickets sold ahead of the curtain-raiser.

It’s a busy day one schedule in Birmingham with 14 sports, and further disciplines, getting under way across the city.

Event listings and times for Friday, July 29

Lawn bowls and para lawn bowls: 8.30am to 1.45pm and 3pm to 8.15pm

Badminton: 9am to 12.30pm, 2pm to 5.30pm and 7pm to 10.30pm

Gymnastics: 9am to 2.30pm and 5pm to 10.30pm

Hockey: 9am to 12.30pm, 2pm to 5.30pm and 7pm to 10.30pm

Rugby Sevens: 9am to 1.30pm and 5.30pm to 10pm

Table tennis and para table tennis: 9am to 2.30pm and 4pm to 9pm

Cycling, track and para track: 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 6.30pm

Aquatics; swimming and para swimming: 10.30am to 12.30pm and 7pm to 10pm

Cricket, T20: 11am to 2.30pm and 6pm to 9.30pm

Triathlon and para triathlon: 11am to 4pm

Boxing: 12pm to 3pm and 6.30pm to 9pm

Netball: 12pm to 3.30pm and 8pm to 9.30pm

Squash: 12pm to 3.15pm and 6pm to 8.30pm

Basketball 3x3 and wheelchair basketball 3x3: 3.30pm to 6pm and 7.30pm to 10pm
