Commanders WR Terry McLaurin ‘day-to-day’ ahead of Week 1

Will the Washington Commanders be without star wide receiver Terry McLaurin for their Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals?

Head coach Ron Rivera met with the media Tuesday and refused to give an update on McLaurin or defensive end Chase Young. Why? Because he doesn’t need to until Wednesday.

“Yeah, well, tomorrow we’ll have the first medical report for you guys, and everybody will know where we are with our players,” Rivera said when asked about Young.”

McLaurin injured his toe in the second preseason game against Baltimore, making some wonder if he’d be 100% in time for the Commanders’ season opener.

Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post offered an update on Tuesday, saying McLaurin is progressing in his recovery and is “day to day.” The Commanders are hopeful he can play in Week 1, but it’s “uncertain.”

There is no question that McLaurin will be on Washington’s injury report throughout the week. And there is no doubt that McLaurin will push to play, but the Commanders must be careful with their star wideout so this isn’t something that follows him all season.
