Commanders will face the Eagles in the NFC championship game

The Washington Commanders took care of business on Saturday night, defeating the Detroit Lions 45-31 to advance to their first NFC championship game in 33 years. Now, Washington knows who it will face next weekend.

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 on Sunday in snowy Philadelphia, advancing to the NFC title game for the second time in three years.

The Eagles will host the Commanders next Sunday, and the game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. ET. It is the third meeting of the season between the two longtime rivals and the first time in the series history that they will face off in the NFC championship game.

The two teams first met back in Week 11 on Thursday Night Football. The Eagles won 26-18, but Washington controlled the game until early in the fourth quarter before Saquon Barkley took over.

In the Week 16 rematch in Landover, the Commanders won, overcoming a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to shock the Eagles. Jayden Daniels found Jamison Crowder for a nine-yard touchdown pass with six seconds remaining. It was a banner day for Washington’s rookie signal-caller, who passed for 258 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 81 yards.
