Commanders to hire Brian Schneider, reuniting him with Dan Quinn

The Washington Commanders have only been in offseason mode for a little over a week since losing the NFC Championship to the Philadelphia Eagles, but they haven’t stopped working. Adam Peters and Dan Quinn are solidifying their coaching staff for 2025, announcing that Brian Schneider will join their ranks as assistant special teams coordinator, assisting special teams coach Larry Izzo.

Schneider previously coached with Quinn in Seattle when both coaches were there in the 2010s. Schneider was with the Seahawks for 11 years before leaving for personal reasons, and Quinn had a couple of stops in Seattle during that time.

After being fired as the San Francisco 49ers special teams coordinator in January, Schneider is headed to the East Coast. He coached for one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but outside of that, the vast majority of his experience is out west. This means he’ll bring a new perspective on the special teams game, and with all of the rule changes, that’s probably a good thing.

Quinn and Schneider were both part of the Seahawks teams that went to two straight Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014.
