Commanders to debut all-black uniforms in Week 4 vs. Cowboys

Fans didn’t have to wait long for the Washington Commanders to debut their new all-black uniforms. The Commanders practiced in their black helmets Wednesday and confirmed they would debut their new all-black uniforms on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

It’s a brand new look for the franchise. Washington debuted the black alternates back on Feb. 2 when they announced the new nickname.

After practice, Ron Rivera downplayed the uniforms.

“Just to wear it,” Rivera said. “I mean, it’s one of the uniforms we have. It’s one of the alternatives. And we thought wearing black would be good.”

Some of the players were more enthused, including quarterback Carson Wentz.

“I think they’re sharp. I think they’re sharp. Hopefully, we execute well wearing them, but I think they’re sharp. I think guys will be excited for it.”

Right tackle Sam Cosmi was also excited about the uniforms.

“I think it’s pretty cool. I think it’s a really good look,” Cosmi said per Ethan Cadeaux of NBC Sports Washington. “It’s different, something that hasn’t been seen in Washington before. So I really like them. I think they look really nice. They’re very sleek.”

The uniforms will quickly be forgotten if the Commanders lay another egg Sunday.
