Since training camp opened last week, Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has impressed during every practice. While Daniels split first-team reps with veteran Marcus Mariota, even when he was. off, Daniels looked much better than his fellow former Heisman winner.
On Tuesday, Daniels had perhaps his best practice yet, according to those in attendance. He connected with wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson on multiple big plays.
First, there’s this one from Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.
Jayden Daniels just threw a beauty to Terry McLaurin along the left sideline. Had to be about 40 yards. Terry was hyped after. Fans were too.

After practice, Jhabvala posted another message on Daniels’ day.
Jayden Daniels is having a very good day.

Ben Standig of The Athletic said Daniels was “sharp.”
Practice is over. Easily the most fun of camp. That happens when plays are made, particularly by the offense.
Jayden was sharp. Jahan caught a bunch of targets (with a couple of misses). Tremayne popped. Sainristill shined in coverage, hustle plays. Thought Coleman looked good.

Finally, there is this one from Lynnell Willingham of 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C.
Jayden Daniels has been ON ONE today
Another BEAUTIFUL deep ball to Terry for a big gain
It’s a thing of beauty watching him throw it deep
Best practice of camp for JD5

Certainly, it’s an encouraging day for the No. 2 overall pick in his quest to lock up Washington’s starting quarterback job. Everyone knows Daniels will win the job, but head coach Dan Quinn has mentioned that the team will continue to follow its plan for the young quarterback.
