Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has taken the league by storm this season. His ability to move the ball down the field, whether throwing or running, is very reminiscent of a young Michael Vick, but without the baggage. He’s led the Commanders to the top of the NFC East, but last week, he suffered a rib injury against the Carolina Panthers.
That injury has his injury status listed as week-to-week, but on Friday, Daniels practiced. At least, that’s what they tell us. Practice was held indoors today.
FWIW, I did see Jayden Daniels go in the bubble. https://t.co/tI3H1TRMqJ

After practice, head coach Dan Quinn said that Daniels did, indeed, practice today. Initially, they worked on core strength and conditioning before he worked with the team, “It was just by design to get some more core and strength work prior to the big throwing sessions.”
He also said that Daniels did work in the bubble first but that it’s protocol, and all players go through the same process.
Asked if Daniels was limited in practice, Quinn said, “No, just the opposite. In fact, we really wanted to push it today. And so that’s why I think it’s important because you have to push it in all the, not just the quarterback specific things, but also within the game plan. So we really pushed it today. And so that’s what really the next day and a half will be bout. See how he response because you have to do that.”
Daniels did throw a some today, but Quinn said, “it’s different than throwing like full on,” comparing it to a pro day to “real football.”
The Commanders face the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and while Marcus Mariota is a reliable backup, the Commanders would like it much better if Daniles can suit up. We’ll see how his body responds to what he did today, that will likely dictate his game status for Sunday.
