When San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk posted a photo of a Washington Commanders’ practice on his social media, it garnered plenty of reactions. Aiyuk, in the middle of a contract dispute with the 49ers, did what he intended to do.
The most significant concern from Washington’s perspective was how and why Aiyuk had the photo. The how is easy: Aiyuk is best friends with Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Either Aiyuk took a screenshot of Daniels watching practice, or Daniels sent the photo to Aiyuk at the receiver’s request.
Here’s the photo in case anyone missed it recently:

Some speculated that Aiyuk was watching film of Washington’s practices with Daniels. That was not the case.
On Tuesday, Commanders coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters met with the media ahead of the start of training camp. A reporter asked Peters about their reaction to a player from an opposing team having a photo of a Washington practice.
“First and foremost, he didn’t have practice footage,” Peters said. “A still, yeah. But we handled it internally, and we’re unconcerned with that.”
Case closed.
Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post said the team did bring up the issue with Daniels, but he was not fined or disciplined in any way.
Here’s the video of the interaction:
