Comic Relief 2022: David Tennant to host BBC Red Nose Day alongside Alesha Dixon and Jude Law

Red Nose Day 2022 is just around the corner, and David Tennant joins the impressive line-up to host alongside Sir Lenny Henry.

Comic Relief is the BBC's televised fundraising event, featuring a whole host of celebrity sketches and musical performances.

Viewers can look forward to appearances by comedians Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, Jack Whitehall, David Walliams, and Matt Lucas, as well as public figures such as Olympian Tom Daley and Strictly star Rose Ayling Ellis.

Former Doctor Who actor David revealed how Comic Relief makes him "proud to be British".

One of the sketches people have to look forward to is titled Comic Opera, following six celebrities who are given 24 hours to learn opera – and perform it in front of a live audience at The London Coliseum.

Another is titled 'Rock Profile' and will feature a host of bold-name music artists including Lewis Capaldi, Adele, Lady Gaga and Post Malone.

Scots star David says he was delighted to be added to the hosting lineup, adding: “It’s one of those things that makes you proud to be British. The mix of being daft and being big hearted seems to be something we do well. It’s always an honour and a joy to be involved.”

Alesha Dixon continued: “I have grown up with Comic Relief, it’s such an important night of the year that brings the whole country together to help others. It brings out the best in people whilst entertaining the nation, it’s part of all our lives and we all feel deeply connected to it.”

“The audience can expect more stars than you can shake a stick at, loads of passionate and exciting films demonstrating where the money goes and why,” Sir Lenny Heny said.

“Plus music, laughter, great hosts including me, Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuinness, Alesha Dixon – and more…this is going to be huge!

"Please tune in, Red Nose Day – March the 18th…you might even see some celebrities singing opera LIVE…yikes. Be there.”

Last year, Comic Relief's Red Nose Day charity raised over 55 million British pounds in the United Kingdom.

Red Nose Day is on Friday, March 18 this year and will air on BBC One at 7pm.
