Comic Con fan recruits his mum to huge group dressed as Red Dead Redemption characters

Liverpool's Comic Con has returned today for the weekend with plenty of extravagant outfits on show.

The jam-packed weekend is perfect for sci-fi fans, cosplay enthusiasts and comic book lovers, with a star-studded lineup on the cards. Fans will be able to meet a number of different celebrities including Stranger Things stars Jamie Campbell-Bower and David Harbour, as well as the Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith from Doctor Who.

Visitors will be able to dress up as their favourite characters, with a cosplay competition also available to enter for a £500 cash prize. Connor Butler, 19, from Liverpool, who is a member of a cosplay group, hired a huge cast of people to play characters from the popular video game Red Dead Redemption - including his mum.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 voice actors Roger Clark, Rob Wiethoff, Benjamin Byron Davis, and Alex McKenna set to make an appearance this weekend, Connor Butler 'hired' a group of fellow cosplayers to look the part. Connor's cosplay group were previously asked to join the event as 'exhibitors' for 'public entertainment'.

Connor said: "I've been coming to Comic Con for years. I look forward to meeting the celebs, and seeing other people's outfits, say if there's another Arthur (the main character from Red Dead) with a nod or a tip of the hat. It's just the interactions with people it's great."

He continued: "We're part of a big cosplay group, this is our local Comic Con and we were asked to come here as exhibitors for public entertainment. It was mainly me, and my mate over there dressed as John Marston, we planned the group and sort of like hired everyone.

"None of them have really played Red Dead Redemption, well a few of us, but I just sort of assigned characters. Some wanted to do their own thing as well."

Connor Butler also brought his mum along with him to get involved in the cosplay, who can be seen in a typical cowboy style outfit.
