Comedy show in Australia takes swipe at Ireland AM in cheeky clip

An Australian comedy show has taken a cheeky swipe at Ireland's most popular breakfast show, Ireland AM.

The official Twitter account for the show The Cheap Seats brought the show to an international stage after joking that hosts Muireann O'Connell, Tommy Bowe and Alan Hughes were always tight on time.

Speaking on Ireland AM last week, Muireann revealed the jibe to viewers, saying she had some "breaking news".

She said: "Ireland AM has made it to Australia. It seems a comedy panel show has noticed little old us all the way from Ireland. But you know what, maybe not for the right reasons."

The footage from the comedy show hosted by comedians Melanie Bracewell and Time McDonald illustrated a compilation of clips from Ireland AM's cooking segments which showed the Irish hosts continuously telling guests to hurry up as they are running out of time.

The clips featured both Alan and Muireann as they warned guests, "Now, we don't have much time here," and "Only a minute left."

The hilarious clip comes to an even funnier end as Alan is seen telling baker Catherine Leyden bluntly: "Stop talking and turn it off."

Thankfully, the Irish hosts saw the funny side to the footage as they broke down in laughter at their antics on the live show.

Since the trio acknowledged the hilarious dig from the Australian comedy show, hosts Melanie and Tim responded yet again.

The latest episode of the weekly comedy panel show, which airs on Network 10, saw Melanie and Tim showing Muireann, Alan and Tommy laughing about their new international fame.

Tim said: "Last week, you may remember, we introduced you to the Irish breakfast TV show, Ireland AM, and their incredibly rushed cooking segment."

Melanie added: "Well, this week, this happened."

The Australian show then rolled footage from Ireland AM, where the trio discussed their new fame and jokingly blamed producers for their rushed segments.

Returning to the studio, the comedians laughed about the clip, which showed Tommy Bowe begging to watch the blunt clip of Alan Hughes once more before being told there wasn't enough time.

Tim said: "No time to watch it again!"

Melanie joked: "If they watched it again, it would be IrelandPM!"

Ireland AM weekend host Paul Ryder quickly retweeted the post saying he was left "Howling."
