Comedian Leslie Jordan cause of death confirmed as ‘sudden cardiac dysfunction’

The cause of death of comedian Leslie Jordan has been confirmed.

The entertainer was pronounced dead after his BMW crashed into the side of a building in Hollywood, California, on October 24, 2022. Jordan was 67 years old.

It’s now been revealed that the popular comic died from “sudden cardiac dysfunction”, as stated by a medical examiner, which led to his car crash.

People obtained documents filed to Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office which confirmed “no evidence of drugs or alcohol” in Jordan’s system, concluding that the star died “from natural causes.”

The coroner’s report noted arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease as a “secondary factor” in the cause of death.

Jordan, who hailed from Tennessee, shot to fame after starring in the hit sitcom Will & Grace, which he won an Emmy for in 2006. He appeared in American Horror Story, and several other TV shows in the years that followed.

The comedian’s fan pool later expanded considerably, thanks to social media, as he regularly posted funny footage of himself from his daily life, amusing his millions of followers.

Jordan, who lived in Los Angeles at the time of his death, was also a celebrated member and advocate of the LGBTQ+ community.

On the day he passed away, he had been on his way to set to film a new series when he crashed his car.

“The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan,” Jordan’s agent said in a statement at the time.

“Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times.”

Jordan’s former Will & Grace co-stars gave tribute to the late star in October.

“My heart is broken,” Sean Hayes wrote on Twitter.

“Leslie Jordan was one of the funniest people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone who ever met him, loved him. There will never be anyone like him. A unique talent with an enormous, caring heart.

“You will be missed, my dear friend.”

The show’s lead star Eric McCormack said: “’The funniest & flirtiest southern gent I’ve ever known.

“The joy and laughter he brought to every one of his #WillandGrace episodes was palpable. Gone about thirty years too soon. You were loved, sweet man.”
