A celebrity comedian resorted to tweeting Bristol Airport this afternoon after his performance at a festival was threatened by a delayed flight. Irishman David O'Doherty is heading back to Dublin this afternoon (Saturday, June 18) after a gig in Bristol last night, but says his Aer Lingus flight keeps getting pushed back.
He tweeted to his 212,000 followers shortly before 2pm: "Hi @aerlingus or @BristolAirport I am onstage at @BodyandSoulIrl Festival in five hours and my flight out of Bristol has been delayed three times. Is it going leave or should I try to book something else?"
The comedian, who has his own Channel 4 show Along for the Ride, was in the city as he performed at Bristol Comedy Garden last night at the Downs. He said on his Instagram story that it was "so much fun" - but then posted a selfie, presumably from Bristol Airport, looking exasperated with his eyes closed in front of a sign that advised of potential queues.

Responding to one of his followers on Twitter, he said: "[The plane from Dublin] seems to be boarded but sitting on the tarmac for 2 hours. I’m trying to find a flight tracker to see if it has taken off."
The follower then informed him at 3.41pm that according to flight trackers the plane had taken off from Dublin, to which David replied: "Eeeeeeek!"
The only afternoon Aer Lingus flight listed on Bristol Airport's live departure board is the 12.45pm service to Dublin, flight number EI 3283. Aer Lingus's own flight tracker notes that that flight is delayed, listing the estimated departure time as 4.45pm and the arrival as 5.57pm - almost four hours later than the original scheduled arrival time of 2.05pm.
Body and Soul is based at Ballinlough Castle in Co. Westmeath, which is about an hour's drive from Dublin Airport. It is billed as a festival "celebrating life, music, culture and the arts". His performance there is on the schedule for 6.30pm.
Aer Lingus and Bristol Airport have been contacted for further comment.
