Rikke Sevecke believes Everton have made plenty of progress in the Women's Super League this season, despite losing out to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
City made a bright start to the contest at Walton Hall Park and capitalised on their early dominance as Julie Blakstad coolly slotted the ball home inside 32 minutes. Everton responded well and equalised through their first corner of the game; Sevecke bundling the ball over the line after a sublime Elise Stenevik delivery.
However, the Blues weren't level for long, with WSL top scorer, Bunny Shaw, restoring City's advantage just minutes after the break. Despite the result, which saw Everton drop to eighth in the table, Sevecke is confident the Toffee's will continue to grow under manager Brian Sorensen.

“I think we played really, really well for big parts of the game and we were unlucky with their goals,” the Danish defender told club media after the game. “The last one, we lose the ball and they counter on us, it’s our own mistake."
Sevecke added: "We can do way better than that. I think we have come really far over these past couple of games, we have developed as a team, and I think that’s really important to take forward.
“We’ve had a good performance [against Manchester City], but not good enough, and we can see that with the result.
"When they went 2-1 up, we felt more free to play, and we need to try and have that throughout the whole game because when we play, we can beat these types of teams, the top teams.”
Saturday's clash yielded Everton's fourth defeat of the season, with Manchester City handing Sorensen's side their third consecutive loss at home. However, the Blues will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Glanford Park to take on Sheffield United in the Conti Cup this weekend.
Everton drew with Aston Villa on matchday one, with goalkeeper Emily Ramsey coming up with the goods in the shooutout to hand the Toffees a crucial bonus point. Reflecting on Saturday's tie against the Blades, Sevecke said: “It’s an important game in the cup, we need to bounce back, win this game and get points in the group."
